Curtains! Preview

It’s musical season at Cathedral Prep, and Father Mike DeMartinis and crew are starting off with a bang with the cult classic Curtains!

Curtains is a gripping comedy murder mystery with one of the catchiest arrangement of songs and wacky dances that are sure to have the audience enthralled. The basic plot of Curtains! is that the lead character of a Broadway show, Jessica Cranshaw (Kelly Mischler ’20) was murdered during the final minutes of the show. Onto the scene bursts Broadway wannabe and lead detective of the Boston police department Lieutenant Frank Chioffi (Charlie Raimondi ’20). After discussions with producers Carmen Bernstein (Izzi Schoonover ’20) and Oscar Shapiro (Anthony Nunez ’21) and director Christopher Belling (Daniel Tomesko ’20) Frank says while he conducts his investigation the show must go on!

The show is filled with complicated love stories From Frank and Nikki Harris (Stella Przybylinski ’20) to the intertwined love triangle of new lead Georgia (Anna Skinner ’22), talented songwriter Aaron (Tom Carroll ’20) and the choreographer and lead of the musical within the musical Bobby Pepper (Ryan Kirby ’21). Another thing you’ll find in Curtains! are hilarious one-liners, primarily delivered by Christopher Belling, but what else would you expect from a character played by Jaboi.

This show is one of the most dance-heavy shows in recent memory. Choreographer and Prep-Villa dance teacher Mrs. Eden Ihrig has met the task head on and created some amazing numbers you can watch in the show. From the fun and flashy show people kick lines to the provocative Thataway dance this show is chalk full with incredible dance numbers. How could it not be when you have two full-time dance leads as a part of the show in Bobby Pepper and Bambi (Elizabeth Swanson ’20).

Curtains! is a must see performance, and one you do not want to miss! Tell your friends and family and come out and see it Jan. 30 through Feb 2.
