Super Bowl LVIII is this Sunday, and even those who aren’t football fans often turn in for this unofficial American holiday. This week our staff chimed in with what they are most excited about when it comes to the Super Bowl.
Kwame Anim-Somuah
I am looking forward to the Super Bowl game and to see some of the commercials. The 49ers defense has been the spearhead of the team’s success, and Patrick Mahomes has been playing out of his mind. Both teams overall are really strong, and it will be tight game in my opinion. I also think that there will be some cool commercials to look for, which is always great to see.
Lindsay Armanini
For this year’s Super Bowl, I am most excited for the actual game being played. Contrary to the opinions of many NFL fans around the country, I am excited to see the matchup between the Chiefs and the 49ers. While both teams are not fan favorites or underdogs, I think that both teams are full of talent and deserve to be in the big game. I look forward to watching the competition between quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy, as well as between tight ends Travis Kelce and George Kittle. I am hoping for a 49ers victory, but I will never doubt Andy Reid’s Chiefs, as they never go down without a fight!

I’m excited for the Super Bowl for a lot of reasons. I am excited to see all the players on the 49ers win. Brock Purdy being Mr. Irrelevant not even a year ago, and now he has a chance to win a Super Bowl. Christian MaCaffrey winning his first ring after all this time in the NFL and working so hard. I would also just like to see the Chiefs lose. They’ve won the Super Bowl enough times over the past couple of years.

Personally, I don’t care about the Super Bowl. I have really little interest in football to begin with, besides going to games with my friends. I haven’t been a fan of either of this year’s teams either, so I don’t really have any interest in watching. If I had to choose one thing, I would say I’m looking forward to the food. I love Buffalo chicken dip, and it’s usually a staple in terms of Super Bowl snacks.

Every year during the Super Bowl I watch the half time show. I am not a big football fan, and I find it very confusing to watch. Most of my family aren’t super big football fans either, but my mom likes the Cowboys. Every year we usually get a few snacks to eat during the game. I usually occupy myself by doing something else until the halftime show comes on. I enjoy watching the halftime show and listening to the music that the performers do. The halftime show is usually very entertaining as well as exciting. And I’m looking forward to watching it this weekend.

This year the Super Bowl does not have my hopes very high. I hope the game is a good one at least, but even still I have less at stake emotionally than most years. I hope the 49ers win, mostly because I want the Chiefs to lose. Other than that, the most exciting part for me will be the fact my family is celebrating my birthday (it’s not until the 14th, but that’s when we are celebrating).

I am most looking forward to just watching the game. I do not really care for either team. I like and dislike both for various reasons. I feel that this year’s Super Bowl should be an entertaining one. We have one team who is looking to officially become a dynasty, and another team trying to get revenge for losing in the Super Bowl a few seasons ago. I am just looking forward to some high-quality football. You can never go wrong with a championship game.
