Thanksgiving break begins at 3 p.m. today. Before heading home for a week, The Rambler staff reflected on what they are thankful for.

I am thankful for free time. Being able to spend extra time doing things that matter the most to me is something I have taken for granted many times. Having a busy academic and home schedule has made me realize how relaxing and calming it can be to spend some time reading a book or listening to music. Free time has also allowed me to spend time with my family, this being something that busyness has made me realize the importance of appreciating when I have it.

With Thanksgiving coming up, there are many things to be thankful for. For one I am very thankful for Thanksgiving break because it gives us time to relax and take a break from the stress of school. I am also very thankful for my family. For break, I am going down to Florida to visit my brother for his internship, so I’m thankful that I’ll be with family and be able to enjoy my time down there. I am also thankful for food and shelter. Sometimes I think I take that for granted and need to realize that I should be grateful for the simple things that some people don’t have.

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for my family. Every Thanksgiving we go down to see my cousins in North Carolina. They throw a big feast, inviting all their friends and a lot of family members too. Usually there’s about 30 people, and there are outdoor games to play since everyone is super competitive. It is a really nice day in general because we start off the day with Mass and we dress up nice. We go out and do something together, and overall it is really just a meaningful day because I get to see a lot of people I love that I don’t see often.

I’m grateful for the new job I got this year. I worked at Sheetz the previous year, and while the people there were really great to work with, I didn’t like the work itself and it got repetitive. My new job I get to work with new great people, and I actually like my work. I’m also grateful for my teachers for helping me do my best in school because now I’m accepted into college, and I got into a hard program. This year has been really great with giving me new opportunities for my future.

This Thanksgiving I’m very thankful for my family and friends. I have an incredible support system who have been instrumental in all of my successes. They have provided me with so many wonderful memories and lots of love, and I feel very grateful to have each and every one of my immediate and extended family as well as my close friends be a part of my life.
