What do you want to do in the future for your career?

This week the staff took a look into the future and wrote about what they want to do in the future in their career.

Tamara Bell

I want to pursue a career in law. I plan to study something that will strengthen my writing, research, and critical thinking skills so that I am prepared for law school. I also plan to gain experience through internships and volunteer work. After earning my degree, my goal is to attend law school and delve deeper into the areas that interest me the most. Most of all, I want to use my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in my community.

Isabella Bellotti

I would like to pursue a career in animation. I have always been a creative person and interested in the process of animation. As I have grown, I have become more interested in how art is created, especially movement. As a medium, animation offers many creative possibilities for storytelling. Taking my creative visions and animating them would allow me to expand my storytelling capabilities by offering a visual aspect to my work and create a more memorable impact.

Zach Cornell

I’m not completely sure what I want to do for my career. There are many things that I have thought about over the years, but I haven’t been able to make a full decision on it. For example, I am interested in the arts. Specifically, ceramics is what I find to be the most interesting because it is very fun but takes good work. I also have a little bit of interest in social work because it is very rewarding working with people. If I could choose any job, I would probably choose being a gourmet chef, but I’m not good at cooking, so that’s off the table.

Nicholas Hoke

When I’m older I want to be a mechanical engineer. They research, design, and test systems. They apply physics to their work, and there are also many different job opportunities in the profession. Even if mechanical engineering doesn’t work there are many other engineering jobs related to it. I also like to do hands-on things and figure out how things work and fix them.

Grasyn Peterson

I want to be a rad technologist. For a while I didn’t know what I wanted to do as a career. It wasn’t until sophomore year that I took my first health science class, which was forensic science. It was the first time I was really interested in a class, and it helped me realize I wanted to get into the medical field. Junior year is when I found out about Rad tech and how it was only 2-3 years of college and you were basically guaranteed a job out of college. After doing more research I decided this what I wanted to do. And since then I’ve applied to Gannon for radiologic science, and I got in. I’m really excited to soon start my career and get to help people.

Brianne Ryan

When I grow up I want to work as an intelligence analyst for the CIA. Growing up, my father was the head men’s lacrosse coach at Mercyhurst University for a long time, and Mercyhurst has one of the best tall programs in the country. As a result, a lot of his players were in that field of work. I’ve gotten the chance to hear a lot of cool stories from all of them. One of them used to send us pictures from Jordan and Qatar. I really want to go into that field and mainly focus on Middle Eastern terrorism.
