Pat Grab (’05) addresses students at Quarter Sessions assembly (32 photos)

The Quarter Session assembly for the second quarter took place last Friday. Compared to the first quarter, there was a visible increase in the amount of honor cards that were passed out between the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes. As usual, the freshman won the overall amount of honor cards and had the highest percentage of students with honors with 55 percent, with the seniors finishing second with 48 percent. This also was the time when students who took the SATs and ACTs with high scores were recognized for their hard work. Some of these students recognized were Connor Wurst, who scored 800s in two sections of the SATs and Joshua Maciak who scored a 32 on the ACT in reading.
As with each Quarter Sessions assembly, a Prep alumni comes to speak to the student body about their past experiences and what Prep has taught them. This session featured Patrick Grab, Class of 2005, who came to share his illustrious stories with the students. Mr. Grab was part of the senior class that hung the banner during McDowell’s graduation that said “Prep owns you 2005.”
The stories that were shared were extremely enjoyable, but the message that Mr. Grab shared was even more memorable. He spoke about how it seems as if he had just left these hallowed halls and for the senior class to enjoy every last moment they have here at Prep. He finished by quoting Arthur Ashe on how, even when he was robbed of his career, he never questioned God’s plan for him or asked “Why me?” Senior Drew Farrell said, “Mr. Grab is a living legend and it was great hearing all of the stories again.”
