On Monday, Oct. 26, the Cathedral Prep golf team brought a state title back home. This was the Ramblers’ second golf team state championship in school history. The Ramblers won the state championship tournament by 5 strokes with a team score of 297. This year’s golf team included a deep roster with four seniors and one sophomore. With the team being so deep in depth any one of the players could have been lowest scorer on any given day. Since becoming state champions and the best team in Pennsylvania, the golf team has been invited to a national tournament.

The Ramblers have been invited to play in the 2021 National High School Golf Invitational. The tournament will be played at Pinehurst in North Carolina. The invitational includes 50 of the top high school golf teams from every state in the country. The teams will be playing three different courses in three days at Pinehurst.

One of the senior captains, Zach Henry, was asked about the opportunity to play in this type of tournament.

“I am very excited to travel with the boys and get to play a course we’ve all dreamed of playing and especially at the national level,” Zach said.

Fellow senior captain Evan Rowane explained how far this team has come to get to this point.

“As a team we have come so far. At the beginning of the season, we made it our main goal to win a state championship,” he said. “Once we had that as our goal, we worked extremely hard each day in practice to move closer to that goal. We really came together as a team and made the most of the opportunity in front of us. It was so cool to see all the hard work come full circle after winning the state championship as a team.”

The Ramblers will travel down to North Carolina in June to play in the invitational. The tournament runs from June 28-30. It will be an experience the Rambler golf team will never forget in their lifetimes with an opportunity to play one of the most famous golf courses in the entire world.
