Kwame’s Journey through Prep and after
Staff+Profile%3A+Owurakwame+Anim-Somuah

Owurakwame (Kwame) Anim-Somuah is a senior at Cathedral Preparatory School. He has many accomplishments including that he has been a class officer all four years at Prep, and this year he is the vice president.

Kwam is also an athlete. He plays soccer at the varsity level for Prep. He has won three district 10 championships at Prep. He also plays for the ECNL soccer team, the Western New York Flash.

Why did he choose Prep over other schools?

“I knew that I wanted to go to Prep in 6th grade,” Kwame said, “because my brother went there. I loved my shadow experience as well as being a part of the brotherhood and being on the soccer team.”

Kwame has played soccer at Prep for four years, so he knows the work you have to put in to be a student athlete.

“Prep is very understanding to student athletes, making a priority of holding athletes accountable,” Kwame said. “Having good connections with you teachers makes your life so much easier.”

After high school, Kwame’s plans are that he wants to play soccer at the collegiate  level. He wants to pursue a degree in either journalism or economics and then attend law school. After law school he wants to become a corporate lawyer, open his own law firm, and become an attorney and eventually become a district attorney.

Kwame has had a lot happen through his journey at Prep.

“I have grown a lot as a student, athlete, and in my faith,” Kwame said. “Prep has taught me to build relationships with new people, great study habits, and how to challenge myself as a student as well.”
