CP Baseball has impressive Arizona trip

The Cathedral Prep baseball team went on their annual spring training trip to Arizona over Easter break. The team got on their flight on Saturday, March 31, at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and arrived in Arizona later that day. The team didn’t play their first game until Thursday, April 5, so they spent the first half of their week practicing at near by high school and preparing for the tournament.
The Prep baseball team had a lot of time to bond and become closer as group as they went out to eat together and hung out a lot in the hotel together. They also got to attend an Arizona Diamondbacks game.
The first game they played was at noon against a team local to the area, Holbrooks high school. CP baseball started the tournament off right by winning in a dominant fashion, 21-1.
Sabino High School from Tucson was the next team the Ramblers had to play. This game didn’t go as well as the first one, as Prep lost a very close game by a score of 5-4.
Prep bounced back after this to get their second win of the tournament by beating North West Christian 8-5. With two more games left to play the Ramblers wanted to finish strong.
Finishing strong is exactly what Prep did, as they won their 3rd game against Trevor Browne High School 10-0.
There was one game left in the tournament against Poston Butte High School. It was pretty close game, but Prep ended up winning 4-2.
They finished the trip with a record of 4-1. Junior Matt Cervik reflected on his team’s experience in Arizona by saying, “It was great to get out of our playing area and explore the atmosphere Arizona has to offer. With the nine days we were there we developed a better relationship as a team, and hopefully it will continue throughout our regular season.”
