Student morale heating up with warmer weather

It’s safe to say that this winter was for the birds. Previously predicted, this winter was estimated to be the coldest Erie has seen in a while.

“January and February were absolutely frigid,” senior Andy Samuels continued, “I made the mistake of leaving my car outside one night and when I woke up, my door handles were completely frozen.”

But thankfully that and many more woes of winter are finally being left behind. We’ve reached April, and spring is finally here. With temperatures finally now rising into the 50s, 60s, and possibly even 70s, people are finally able to go out and enjoy the outdoors.

“I’m finally able to take out my dirt bike and give it a few spins,” senior Andrew Angelini, “I really hope this weather is consistent. I don’t want to go back to the cold.”

Also with the warmer weather is the ability to experience the thing that makes Erie great, its natural environment. Places like the beach, parks, and Sara’s can’t really be fully appreciated with the bitter cold and snow of winter, but with it now heating up, people can finally go to these places and enjoy themselves.

“It was so satisfying to have my first [ice cream] cone of the year,” said junior Thomas Francouer, “I also got a burger from there and it was delicious.”

While the student body is all grateful for the change in temperature, some of the teachers are as well. One of these teachers is Mr. Biebel, a favorite among the senior student body.

“I’m happy the weather is finally warm,” Mr. Biebel exclaimed. “I can finally mow my lawn with my shirt off, go on a hike with my kiddos, and ride my bike!”

Overall, this warm weather is well deserved. It’s safe to say a lot of people struggled this winter, and hopefully with only a few months until summer, the weather will permanently stay warm for us here in Erie.
